Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her debut EP Pho. The EP was where she gained recognition. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded her music on the internet in 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, Five Finger Discount. Ari Lennox continued to post her music online including her independent single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes and in Sweat It Out July 21st in 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs for the Dreamville Team in the following year, as he wanted Rihanna to be able work together on a few references. Then, in December of 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had been hired to Dreamville Records. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21, 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his track Change in 2017 and also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album of the same name. In February 2019 the video music for the song was released. The song has received more than 3 million YouTube views in just a single week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
